RHINOS partners – a blue-print project awarded to Radiolabs by GSA (http://www.rhinos-h2020.eu) –  have met at Stanford University who has organized the first Workshop to discuss the results with international stake-holders. At the opening speeches Mr. Josef Doppelbauer, executive director of European Union Agency for Railways, and Mr. Carlo Des Dorides, executive director of GSA, have underlined the significant step on having recently included GNSS as one of the game-changer for improving  ERTMS competitivity. At the conclusion of the 3-days  workshop which has involved also representatives from the US Federal Railways Agency (FRA), Ministry of Transport and representatives from CRCC and CRSC Chinese industries,  the RHINOS partners under the guidance of prof. Per Enge from University of Stanford have agreed a roadmap towards an Integrity model complying with the stringent requirements of the ERTMS system. This unprecedented commitment, backed by a team of international experts,  opens the way for contributing to the standardization of ERTMS to use  existing and future world-wide GNSS infrastructures and replacing seamlessly ERTMS track-side balises with virtual balises based on precise and safe train positioning.
