Radiolabs – University Industry Consortium Radio communications laboratories

Radiolabs (University Industry Consortium-Radio Labs) is a nonprofit Research Consortium established in 2001. It is headquartered in Rome and has an operations office in L’Aquila.

It currently counts among its Consortium members three Academic Institutions – the University of Rome “Tor Vergata,” the University of Rome “Roma Tre” and the University of L’Aquila – and three Industrial Partners – Hitachi Rail STS S.p.A., Cegeka S.p.A. and Intecs Solution S.p.A.

It has a highly qualified team consisting mainly of engineers with PhDs and three thematic labs each dedicated to geo-location techniques, telecommunications and the technologies for connected self-driving cars. The labs also equipped with field test equipment contribute to the implementation of research projects by involving university staff and PhD students. It participates in major European and national research projects dedicated to the development and testing of geo-location, telecommunications and cyber-security technologies to enable connected, autonomous driving while improving safety.

Radiolabs contributes to the specialized training of technical personnel, providing support for young researchers to participate in doctoral (PhD) courses in coordination with universities, and promotes the dissemination of results through conferences, workshops and specialized publications that have exceeded 600 citations.

Thanks to the close collaboration between Industrial Partners and Academic Institutions with their research- and innovation-oriented talents, Radiolabs represents a best-practice “public-private joint team” that can share know-how and enhance synergies across sectors to transform innovation into commercial systems with benefits for the community and national technological advancement as well.
