IGAW 2017 “GNSS in future transport, drones and RHINOS days”

Agenda_IGAW__2017 The fourth edition of the Workshop, IGAW 2017, will focus on the cutting-edge technology in the sector.

The opening session on 20 June will deal with some of the most important issues: global high-precision, future applications in the automotive industry and the use of technology in drones for transport and surveying. Day one of the event welcomes the participation of important international representatives of the GNSS world (including Prof. Emeritus G. Lachapelle, from the University of Calgary). This session will conclude with a showcase from the drones sector.

On days two and three, the final Workshop will be hosted by the RHINOS project (Railway High Integrity Navigation Overlay System).

The project, financed by the European GNSS Agency (GSA) under the Horizon 2020 framework, is led by the Italian Consortium RadioLabs and has as partners the University of Stanford, Sogei, German Aerospace Center (DLR), The University of Nottingham and the University of Pardubice .

The objective of the RHINOS project is to study the feasibility of a new international standard for a train control system based on GNSS. It will pave the way for other applications that require high precision and reliability, such as the automotive industry.

The two days, during which the members of the project will present the key results, will be opened with speeches from Gian Gherardo Calini (GSA), Prof. P. Enge (University of Stanford), Mr Costantino Fiorillo (Italian Ministry of Transport) and Massimo Crisci (ESA – ESTEC).
The event will conclude with a round table discussion on the theme of GNSS and security in transport applications. In the closing session of the Workshop, the main results will be summarised and issues of particular importance for both the private and institutional sectors, regarding secure GNSS applications, will be discussed.
